In 2020 we maintained a regular release schedule, with new recordings appearing each month for a 10 month period. 2021 has by contrast been a fallow year. At the start of the year we put out the final part of a 4 ep set from Cornish experimentalists’ North Loop. In the autumn there was a repackaged version of The Goodbye Look’s debut album, collecting together unreleased and alternate versions of songs from the original 2019 album sessions. Then came MAp 20 from ambient artist Statski – a project that, as the name might suggest, was conceived and recorded in the previous year.

So 2021, a fallow year. But not as unproductive as it might appear on the surface. There have been side projects, including our first venture into the print medium. Also a lot of preparation for what we hope will be an active 2022. The Goodbye Look have been busy working away at their second album, which represents a subtle shift in their sound while retaining their signature blend of simple melodies, literate song writing and carefully crafted ambience. Statski will also return with new material in 2022, a highlight of which will be ‘Compulsions’ a collection of more beat orientated electronica (see Light Tripping below for a sample of what to expect).

Last, but definitely not least, we are pleased to announce a companion to our experimental Secret Films series. Bringing together diverse artists from within and outside the LR2 stable, there will be a new series of one off collaborations. Where Secret Films are ambient works, designed as soundtracks for films yet to be made, this new project will be song based. We are excited to see the fruits of these sessions and hope to be releasing them as a series of one off songs on a monthly basis starting at some point towards the spring/summer of 2022.

In the meantime, our existing back catalogue remains freely available on Bandcamp, where you can stream and/or download any music for free.
